The top 10 most common defects in glass bottle forming
Date:-- Publisher:

(1) Cracks Cracks are the most common disadvantage of glass bottles. It can be very fine, and some are only found in reflected light. Cracks are often found in the mouth, neck and shoulder, as well as cracks in the body and bottom.

(2) Uneven thickness This refers to the uneven distribution of glass on glass bottles. The main reason is that the temperature of the frit droplets is uneven, and the viscosity of the part with high temperature is small, and it is easy to blow thin; The lower temperature part has more resistance and is thicker. The temperature of the model is uneven, the glass on the side with high temperature cools slowly and is easy to blow thin, and the side with low temperature is blown thick due to the rapid cooling of the glass.

(3) Deformation The droplet temperature and action temperature are too high, and the bottle that comes out of the forming die has not been completely shaped, and often collapses and deforms. Sometimes the bottom of the bottle is still soft, and the conveyor belt marks will be imprinted, making the bottom of the bottle uneven.

(4) Not full: If the temperature of the droplet is too low or the model is too cold, the mouth and shoulders will not be full, resulting in defects such as notch, deflated shoulders and unclear patterns.

(5) Cold spots The unsmooth plaques on the surface of the glass are called cold spots. The main cause of this defect is that the model temperature is too cold, which mostly occurs when production is started or stopped for reproduction.

(6) Protrusions: Defects in which the sutures of the glass bottle protrude or the edge of the mouth protrudes outward. This is due to the model parts not being manufactured correctly or installed well enough. If the model is damaged, there is dirt on the seam surface, or the top core is lifted too late and the frit has fallen into the preliminary mold before it enters the position, a part of the glass will be pressed out or blown out of the gap.

(7) Wrinkles Wrinkles come in various shapes, some are creases, and some are very fine wrinkles. The cause of wrinkles is mainly due to the fact that the droplets are too cold, the droplets are too long, and the droplets do not fall in the middle of the mold and stick to the mold cavity wall.

(8) Surface shortcomings The surface of the bottle and can is hairy and uneven, mainly caused by the unsmooth surface of the mold cavity. Unclean lubricating of the model or dirty oiled brushes can also degrade the surface quality of the bottles and cans.

(9) Bubbles The bubbles produced in the forming process are often several large bubbles or a number of small bubbles concentrated together, which is different from the evenly distributed small bubbles of the glass itself.

(10) Scissor prints: Obvious traces left on the bottle and can due to poor cutting. A droplet often has two scissor marks, and the top scissor marks are left at the bottom, which affects the appearance. The scissor marks underneath are left on the neck of the bottle and are often the source of cracks.
